can we help?

I was wondering, if perhaps it would be an idea to give some more users a few more rights on the site? so that there might be some more resources to deal with the nuisance users we seem to be getting on the site lately. perhaps if some were given the rights to be able to block posts, and disable accounts, and of course all this would have to be done with J's approval, and the users given these rights would have to be trusted implicitly and accountable to j for what actions they took. Just a thought ..

I'm here a lot and would be very willing to help any way I could. Of course it has to be some one trusted but this is getting just a tad out of hand lately. No offence meant toward anyone, I know how it is. no one has time to sit there 24/7 and people have lives. seriously I know it's tough.

Post 3 by Chris N (I just keep on posting!) on Wednesday, 30-Mar-2005 17:23:00

Dealing with the unwanted posts from users is pretty much a solved deal. One of us two admins enters a user ID and, poof, that user's topics, posts, and quicknotes are history.

Post 4 by Witchcraft (Account disabled) on Wednesday, 30-Mar-2005 19:11:00

I'd be also willing to help in anyway possible. *smile*

Post 5 by The Shuck Fitter (My name is Liam) on Thursday, 31-Mar-2005 10:08:19

the users you speak of are community leaders. I'm usually around, and a lot of folks now how to contact me. I also have a cell phone which people seem to enjoy to text message at random.
I know a lot of the other leaders are around sometimes too. I know maddog has school and so does kc8. dobbin is usually around too

Post 6 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Thursday, 31-Mar-2005 10:48:48

wow people send you texts if there are problems with the site? .. well that definitely is indicative of how desparate some are lol

Post 7 by Leafs Fan (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Thursday, 31-Mar-2005 10:53:53

There doesn't appear to be a need for extra helping hands, but I visit frequently and I would be willing to help out if there is ever another search for community leaders. I don,t always have a lot of time to give, but i'd be willing to help when I can.

Post 8 by Goblin (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Thursday, 31-Mar-2005 12:26:12

I'm just worried about the wrong people being given the job, there has been enough deliberate baiting and provocation lately...

Post 9 by The Shuck Fitter (My name is Liam) on Thursday, 31-Mar-2005 12:37:01

I'd actually tend to agree with ghoblin. the problem is not that we have the man power, the problem is that there are folks who are attacking the site. Hopefully we'll be keeping things under raps. I knwo it seems like this guy's been getting through, but I can say with out a doubt that we're catching 90 percent of his sign ups and are keeping him off the site. Who knows, maybe I'll find out where he lives. mooeheha

Post 10 by Caitlin (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 31-Mar-2005 13:01:20

Yep I think no matter how much help there is there's just always gonna be few times when losers like you-know-who slip in. But just the same if y'all ever need anyone looks like you've got lot of volunteers and you can count me in too!

Post 11 by KC8PNL (The best criticism of the bad is the practice of the better.) on Thursday, 31-Mar-2005 13:40:21

If there is ever a time when we don't catch one of these people right away, not that I think it'll take long, but if ever there was such a situation, if someone who does see this type of abuse of the site could just send one of the comunity liters or admins an email, I'm sure we'll take care of it.

Post 12 by coasterfreak88 (The coaster freak is here.) on Thursday, 31-Mar-2005 16:47:59

You already have responded to me twice. People, these guys know what they're doing.

Post 13 by admin (I just keep on posting!) on Thursday, 31-Mar-2005 18:20:31

We now have things under control, and we have linked together many of the spam accounts to legitimate contact information. Doesn't mean it won't ever happen again, but we should have this situation under control.
Thanks to all for your patience.

And there are also folks who attack other zoners and get away scott free..its these bampots I was referring to..for instance would anyone feel happy with a certain, so called lawyer in charge, I certainly wouldn't...

Post 15 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Friday, 01-Apr-2005 7:59:00

goblin you are the last person who can talk about users attacking other users and getting away with it, so don't be all rightious now it doesn't suit you. it is common knowledge that you have previously been banned from similar sites to this one because of your personal attacks on users so I suggest you keep it shut.

Post 16 by Goblin (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Friday, 01-Apr-2005 8:05:47

I was banned from 1 so don't exaggerate also its righteous with an E.

Post 17 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Friday, 01-Apr-2005 8:11:02

it doesn't really matter how many you were banned from now does it? the fact of the matter is that you have been banned from a site for the behavior you are now seeking to point out in others, now that would be the pot calling the kettle black me thinks ...

Post 18 by The Shuck Fitter (My name is Liam) on Friday, 01-Apr-2005 8:12:46

ok... calm down guys. ghoblin is entitled to his opnion too. if you have a problem with another user, take it off the boards. and rejoyce. We got the hacker. that's all I'll say.

Post 19 by Goblin (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Friday, 01-Apr-2005 9:26:33

I think your woman came here with the sole intention of being nasty as it seems to be her only talent...

Post 20 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Friday, 01-Apr-2005 9:34:10

as liam said goblin ... keep it off the boards ... you can't in one breath accuse users of being personal towards other users and then do exactly the same in the next breath, it's that double standard again ... keep it shut, the rest of the world doesn't care

Post 21 by Goblin (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Friday, 01-Apr-2005 9:47:49

I did send you a message but you prefer to be abusive in public need I say more...

Post 22 by Goblin (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Friday, 01-Apr-2005 9:48:52

And if you think it need to be said

Post 23 by wildebrew (We promised the world we'd tame it, what were we hoping for?) on Friday, 01-Apr-2005 10:04:03

All right guys .. off the boards please.

I think anyone who reads the boards knows who makes persoanal attacks on people and likes to offend. If
People can judgethis for themselves is all I am saying.

Post 24 by Freya (This site is so "educational") on Friday, 01-Apr-2005 10:45:56

Well I certainly would, put the lawyer in charge right now!!!!!!!!!

Post 25 by lights_rage (I just keep on posting!) on Monday, 04-Apr-2005 12:10:03

Please keep your attaks on some stranger who hasn't even posted in this topic off the board here. Ok, got that out of the way so what do i do to help I am not here as much as I would like to be but hey I am a senior in highschool but aside from that i have nothing to do at home so on weekends i am here a lot and I would love to find a way to help I just dont think of things a lot not all the way through anyway so some ideas would be good. I mean if you got a job that i can do by all means hand it over weekends are my best time.

Post 26 by lawlord (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Monday, 04-Apr-2005 16:47:34

Now then now then now then gentlemen please! A so-called lawyer? why Goblin, I don't think this says very much for your courage! If you mean Lawlord, say Lawlord! Go on, it'll make you feel better! I'll say it for you, shall I? What Goblin meant to say, ladies and gents, was that he doesn't want Lawlord in charge! He doesn't want Lawlord in charge and in any event Lawlord is lying about being a lawyer, he really is! come on, Goblin, that's your rather poorly disguised allegation, isn't it? He doesn't want lawlord in charge because Lawlord has attempted to engage constructively with Glasgow's answer to the Loch Ness monster i.e. an indistinct itermingling of fact, ranting and fantasy. He doesn't want the Lawlord in charge because the Lawlord disagrees with him quite often. Contrast his approach in days of yore, where he was the lawlord's best friend at a time when, for once, his arguments were agreeable. He doesn't like the lawlord because time and time again he tries different lines of attack, and none of them bear fruit because at the end of the day, then it comes down to it, our Goblin has made far too many previous inconsistent statements to take the moral high ground or indeed maintain a consistent line of argument. so the measure of last resort is adopted viz. questioning the Lawlord's authenticity as a lawyer, and all I have to say on that particular issue old lad is that I can't for the life of me imagine what impact you envisaged such questioning might have! If I'm a liar not a lawyer what would I have to gain, and if I'm a lawyer not a liar why on earth would I worry about the fact that some chap north of the border has nothing better to do than worry his head about my authenticity? You forget, my friend, that it is you with the previous conviction if I may call it that, when you were excluded from a website. It is you who have referred to people at times on here as stupid, idiots (Spelt wrongly I might add), unintelligent, shall I go on? My dear chap, I really do not care a fig whether you would detest my being in a position of authority on this site. In fact I find it highly amusing that you've now resorted to doubting my authenticity. Either way, I shall look forward to further insults directed against me in the future. In fact, let all your supporters come and back you up! But of course, he won't, will he?

Post 27 by lawlord (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Monday, 04-Apr-2005 16:51:09

And Metallica Girl I ought to thank you for trying to stem the Goblinian tide of wrath lest I be dragged beneath the waves, and I'm grateful to you. but really I don't mind. In fact, I think it would be beneficial were he to have another go if i might put it like that. So, I invite him, or anyone who agrees with him, to create a topic directed specifically at any issues with my good self.

Post 28 by lawlord (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Monday, 04-Apr-2005 16:53:23

And I'll go further, if you prefer, I'll create the topic for you!

Post 29 by Jage (Zone BBS, a decade of madness) on Tuesday, 05-Apr-2005 1:58:40

Ah, don't we have a board that's better suited for this topic, which has now been severely hijacked?

Post 30 by Freya (This site is so "educational") on Tuesday, 05-Apr-2005 6:41:36

Nah LL, you should create a topic directed specifically at issues with the Goblin...that would be more appropriate don't you agree m'learned friend!!

Post 31 by lawlord (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Tuesday, 05-Apr-2005 14:19:04

I hate to quibble, but how can something be severely highjacked? It's either highjacked or its not. One cannot have something that is slightly highjacked, severely highjacked or partially highjacked. To put it another way, highjacking is not a concept that can be treated as a matter of degree. it's like being unique. One is either unique, or not unique. One cannot be quite unique, very unique, etc. anyway I notice that Goblin has not taken up my self-sacrificing offer.

Post 32 by Jage (Zone BBS, a decade of madness) on Wednesday, 06-Apr-2005 14:26:23

In this instance of the phrase, I think a degree of hijacked would be an appropriate adjective, as a thread could be driven partially off-topic or severely derailed. This alone gives me the literary license to use the afforementioned phrase.

Post 33 by lawlord (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Sunday, 10-Apr-2005 17:03:38

J-Squared, when you said adjective, you of course meant adverb, didn't you? secondly, and even conceding, which I don't, that you had the literary license (As you quaintly put it) to formulate such a grammatical faux pas, you did not have the license to misspell aforementioned.

Post 34 by lawlord (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Sunday, 10-Apr-2005 17:04:53

Now the lawlord will be accused, de novo as it were, of spoiling for a petty squabble over a trifle. Well as Lord Lamont said in 1992, Je ne regrette rien.

Post 35 by Freya (This site is so "educational") on Monday, 11-Apr-2005 10:52:53

A trifle?? Hmmmm does it have a cherry on top, if so bring it on LL! Hope you had a ball at the ball......

Post 36 by sugarbaby (The voice of reason) on Monday, 11-Apr-2005 11:13:00

and chocolate sprinkles!

Post 37 by maddog (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Monday, 11-Apr-2005 11:28:06

Highjacked? Yeah, right! This damn topic was highjacked worse then a fuckin' terrorist-controled airplane!

Post 38 by wildebrew (We promised the world we'd tame it, what were we hoping for?) on Monday, 11-Apr-2005 11:31:07

Hmm, to continue the pondering of the meaning of sentences. How can an airplane be "fucking" I thought it took two to do that particular act but there was no airplane collition (not recently anyways) and, quite frankly, if this were the case which airplane would be the female.
